I always like to know how people come up with their names for forums and what do they mean.
Earthmuffin was nickname given to me by a lady I work with. We were all eating lunch together one day and someone asked me if my lack of jewelry was a religious preference or a personal one. I said personal because I personally did not like to break out in hives. I am allergic to most metals so I do not even wear a wedding band most of the time. I made mention that I should have been born a decade earlier so I could have been a flower child/hippie since I love to dig in the dirt and grow things. "L" said I was to conservative to be a flower child that was I was just an earthmuffin and it stuck. For administrative assistant's day I get live plants or gardening "stuff" instead of cut flowers. For Christmas and birthdays I get live plants instead of Bath and Bodyworks.

Slippery Jim Digriz, character in a famous sci-fi series, also known as the Stainless Steel Rat, hence the avatar. Author was Harry Harrison.
I use the name on several forums, but most here know who I "really" am.

I have so many different roles in my life that it seems I'm always switching gears or directions or whatever - so the old pre-Christian Celtic legend of the 'shape shifter' (usually a Druid) seemed appropriate. And in these times, the ability to blend in and disappear would be a great prepping skill!

Well, I chose my name on thta other board as a means to blend in. After all,,there are about 90 million Mommas there... But that's another story. Here I'd rather be myself. Seems like i'm everybodies little sister, so.. Guess I'm not very creative cause I couldn't come up with anything else. Maybe you folks would like to name me?

Haha! Yeah I thought about changing my name too. I didn't so everyone would know who I am without confusion. I think the name is just fine. If not you'll come up with something good.

Well, i use Tripwire in several gun/doom/ etc forums...so I brought it with me to MRS S...then went to Trip...as my outlook improved... ;D
A Tripwire is usually found just before a loud boom... between the finding and the boom there is a pause and then is heard..." ah Chit !!"...
I used to be wound so tight I was called Tripwire a few times...then I got on my meds !!! and the birdies staqrted singing!!( and my guns stopped saying "Clean me" )
Now I'm a human bean...

Mine is a family nickname--I was out deer hunting one day on a tree row--where the trees are very thick and then break and then get thick again. The "break" was about 20 feet wide and a couple hundred feet long. A deer walked into the break and I shot her and she feel out of site into the thick brush. Then she got up and came into the break again and I shot at her again. She disappeared into the brush and came back out and I shot her again, this time going down where I could see her. A little bit later on I went down to where she was to get her ready to drag out and found three dead deer all laying there, almost touching each other. Ever since that day, I am deerslayer to my family.
