I don't mind duds, I was mostly gonna use it for plinking anyway. But it's not goin in Pinky till I'm sure it's not gonna mess the barrel up. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If its bad I guess I'll be out some $ but thats better than bein out a rifle.

Kitty,
Never shot it myself. However, reading up on the stuff, I don't think you should have a problem as far as actually harming the rifle. Dud rounds seem likely from what some of the posters say.
Additionally, based on the level of fouling some claim, CLEAN the rifle well.

Kitty it won't hurt your rifle..If i remember right it is a lead bullet as opposed to being copper clad...
Shoot them all you want...but you can buy 22 ammo cheaper at WM and it's copper clad...some misfires but not enough to worry about...but for your prep stores get CCI minimags....top of the line... and dependable... and I'd stick to solid points not HP...better penertration...
Get you some Butler creek 25 round mags at least 3 for defensive uses..and a speed loader
At WM 5500 rounds of rem or fed 22 LR's is about 130.00 less tax...buy them and get out there shooting...

Kitty the Rem Thunderbolts are a bit dirtier than most, but generally a fine .22. I've used them in a Ruger 10/22, a CZ Kadett and my bolt action CZ .22. Other than being extra diligent in cleaning they worked fine. I have never seen buildup like was shown in the video from just casual shooting. I have never had such buildup in any of the three weapons I used.
Additionally lead .22's have a wax coating for lubrication of the bullet. That wax can build up over time and combined with dirty powder residue will possibly look like that, but I believe that you would have to let it go a long time.
So don't worry about shooting it. Just make sure to run something through the barrel to clean it out.
