This is one of my pantry mixes instead of a gazillion cans of cream of soup I keep this handy with bullion powders. I honestly don't remember where I got this recipe. It was one of those OH CRAP I am out of soup and everything is mixed up ready to go internet searches. I know I have modified the original recipe...
2 c. dry milk 3/4 c. cornstarch 2 tbsp. dried onion flakes 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1/4 cup of bullion powder (chicken, beef, vegetable)
Combine all ingredients. Store in a jar. Makes 3 cups, equal to 9 cans of condensed soup. To use: combine 1/3 cup dry soup mix and 1 cup water. Cook until thickened.
For cream of mushroom I use the veggie bullion and diced dried mushrooms. For cream of celery use dried celery. There are a lot of options with this recipe just play with it.
I have made cream of chicken, onion, beef, celery, and mushroom soups using this recipe.
